First Year College Student Application Process
Application Process for New First Time Students
New First Year Student
We consider you a new first year student if:
- East Stroudsburg University is the first college or university you will attend; and
- You are a U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or non-resident alien.
Please note that if you participated in a dual enrollment program during high school with a local college, you are still considered a freshman applicant.
How Can I Apply?
Complete an application for admission and submit supporting documents for our admissions counselors to review. See the checklist below.
Application Checklist
- Complete the online application, including a non-refundable $25.00 application fee
- Submit your official high school transcript—just ask your school counselor to send it our way
- If you have a GED (General Educational Development) equivalency degree, you must have the test results sent directly from the state of issue to the Office of Admissions.
- If you've already graduated from high school but have not attended college, please be sure that your transcript verifies your graduation.
- SAT and/or ACT scores are not required for any major. Submitted SAT/ACT scores may be used for course placement
You can keep track of your application status online throughout the entire process. Check your email regularly for application updates.
Official Transcripts Requests
If ESU is going to be your new home away from home, be sure to submit an official final high school transcript at the end of your senior year. This transcript should include final senior year grades and high school graduation date. Official transcripts must come to ESU directly from your school's counseling office.
Transcripts can be sent:
- electronically through Naviance, Parchment, Clearing House, SCOIR and others
- via email at admission@esu.edu, or
- USPS mail at East Stroudsburg University, Office of Admissions, 200 Prospect St, East Stroudsburg PA 18301
When will I hear back about my application?
East Stroudsburg University follows a "rolling admissions" policy. Completed applications are usually evaluated within four weeks. We recommend that you apply early, from July to December of your senior year for consideration.
Please utilize your application checklist in your admissions application portal to see if:
- Your contact information is correct
- All required documents have been received
- Once your file is ready for review, please give us four weeks to evaluate your application
You will hear from us via email as soon as your application is processed. Application status update emails come through as "Account Update" emails. You will be required to log in to see these updates.
We look forward to reviewing your application!
