The Digital Media Technologies program at ESU immerses students in the media business and its creative technologies.

Students use today’s creative media technologies to learn how to tell stories and prepare for dynamic media careers. ESU offers a very hands-on program that allows students to experience many aspects of media, from video and TV production to web design, photography, digital graphics, social and interactive media, and new courses and content in esports and virtual reality.

The undergraduate programs provide our students with a wide range of production and creative skills, in multiple subject areas to prepare them with hands on access to the technology they need to become the professionals and leaders in creative media industries.

These software packages are taught on both Windows and Apple computers. We prepare our students to meet the challenges of tomorrow's media industries.

Digital Media Technologies Major

Samantha Kutza is in her junior year at East Stroudsburg University with her sights set on a degree in Digital Media Technologies and a future working in the television industry. And while much of the last two years has not provided traditional academic instruction, Samantha continues to find inspiration in her work and activities. Her career dream began when at the age of 16, Samantha was still in high school and a guest on the set of NBC’s Saturday Night Live.

“That studio experience created a spark in me and since that experience, I knew that working in the television industry was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life,” says Samantha. “And so my first college visit ever was at ESU and from that visit, I knew that this was the campus that was right for me. All the staff and students we met that day were more than welcoming and willing to help with any concerns or questions we had, and ESU’s campus has felt like home since the first time I visited. I immediately knew that this is where I belonged. ESU is very diverse and is excellent at creating an environment in which everyone feels included and welcomed. When I found Digital Media Technologies at ESU, I knew that would be a great program for me, especially with some of the most advanced technology available.”

In addition to immersing herself in classes ranging from motion media and sound recording, to digital publishing for graphics and web, to television/studio production, Samantha also found other activities to keep her busy. She was a member of the Contemporary Dance Team during her sophomore year and is currently a camp mentor for the program’s digital media warrior camp. She’s also looking forward to becoming a DJ for ESU’s student radio station, 90.3 WESS. Samantha is also involved in two internships – one as a graphic designer for the online magazine, Sarah Scoop, and another as a picture editor for Ve W. Entertainment. She says that ESU is doing a great job preparing her for the job market by providing her with core skills such as communication, teamwork, problem solving and leadership.“I have learned how essential it is to make connections with other professionals in my field. Having connections is the key to success, especially in the media industry,” added Samantha. “But what I like best about ESU is how everyone here is a family. When someone says they are a Warrior, they say it with pride. We are part of a special group of people who strive to grow and learn more, respect themselves and each other, encourage and lift each other up, and take pride in the work they accomplish.”DMT educates their students on all aspects on digital media, such as photography, video and television, graphics and web design, and interactive social media. The department is constantly adding new courses to keep students educated on the most upcoming media forms in the industry.Samantha looks forward to completing her degree, with a concentration in video and television, in 2023 and hopes to one day move to New York City and become part of the NBC team that produces (you guessed it) Saturday Night Live.“ESU has definitely prepared me for today’s job market,” said Samantha. “I know I’ll be ready when my big break comes.”

ESU Digital and Media Technologies alumni are in the TV industry, video production, post-production, photography, web design, digital graphics, education and training, business, digital marketing, social media, interactive media, film industry, sound recording, radio stations, and various forms of media and content creation.

We place ESU students in internships at a wide range of digital media opportunities in the industry, including television and radio facilities, production studios, content creators, editors, animators, digital service providers, and photographers.

Members of AERho emphasize superior scholarship and creative participation in broadcast and production activity. Membership in AERho exemplifies excellence of work, demonstrated leadership qualities and service to the organization, the community and the industry.

Media Production Club

Our Purpose of the Media Production Club is to create visual products for the ESU audience and ourselves. The members have hands-on experience with every position in the TV Studio. We will also spend our time creating pieces for those companies that contact us in need of work.

East Stroudsburg Shutters

The purpose of the Photography Club is to create, share knowledge, and broaden the scope of visual design and imagery through the Art of Photography.
