Library Collections

Main Collection

Kemp Library's main collection includes physical items such as fiction and non-fiction books, periodicals (magazines and newspapers), government documents, PreK -12 curriculum materials, children's books, and leisure reading titles.

Most physical items are shelved according to the Dewey Decimal System.

Print Collection

Kemp Library has a large collection of print items like books, journals, newspapers, and government documents. The library also provides 24/7 access to databases that contain more than 3 million full text items.

Film & DVD Collection

The library also has a small collection of films on DVD and a leisure reading collection of books that have appeared on the New York Times Best Sellers List.

Electronic Resources

The library provides 24/7 access both on and off campus to online databases that contain more than 2.7 million full text items such as peer reviewed articles and eBooks.

Special Collections

Kemp Library maintains many special collections:

  • The Al Cohn Memorial Jazz Collection is a valuable asset that preserves the legacy of the famous jazz musician whose name it honors and is used by faculty, students, and many jazz musicians and enthusiasts in the region. Aspiring to achieve recognition as a premier national and international venue for jazz research, the ACMJC continues rigorous collection activity and organizes a yearly “Library Alive” Concert Series in collaboration with the Delaware Water Gap Celebration of the Arts (COTA) and the Sherman Theater in Stroudsburg, and an ESU Jazz Synergy Series. The Vintage Radio Collection is a valuable collection of 3000 hours of radio programs from the 1930s through the 1950s. The collection is made available to the public on WESS radio at 90.3 FM on weekdays from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., or by live streaming at WESS.
